Brian has been admitted to practice law in the State of Florida since 2010. In his role at the firm, Brian represents the interests of physicians, physician groups and their respective insurance carriers in numerous areas of health care law and litigation, such as defending physicians and providers against professional licensure investigations and disciplinary processes (including against the Florida Department of Health, the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration, Florida’s Medicare Administrator, and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services – Offices for Civil Rights), preparing business documents (such as physician employment agreements, operating agreements, partnership agreements, health care provider and medical director contracts) and negotiating disputes pertaining to same, analyzing and preparing advisory opinions for compliance with applicable health laws (such as HIPAA, STARK law, and the Florida Patient Self-Referral Act), and representing clients in all phases of litigation in both business litigation as well as medical malpractice defense (presuit and litigation).   

While attending the University of Florida Levin College of Law, Brian clerked under Larry Gibbs Turner, a former judge for Florida’s Eighth Judicial Circuit. Following his admission to practice law in Florida, Brian joined the Hillsborough County Bar Association and its Young Lawyers Division. Prior to joining Michael R. Lowe, P.A., Brian was an associate attorney for several years at a civil litigation firm, focusing in complex business litigation. Before attending law school, Brian graduated from the University of Central Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and worked for several years as a financial analyst at Harris Corporation, a Fortune 500 international communications and information technology company.

Education:

Brian graduated in 2010 from the University of Florida Levin College of Law with Honors in both Legal Research & Writing and Appellate Advocacy and served as a teaching assistant in both courses as well as a legal research aide. During his time at the University of Florida Levin College of Law, Brian was awarded the Book Award in Legal Drafting, was placed on the Dean’s List, joined the Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity, and served on the Executive Boards of both the Law College Council and the John Marshall Bar Association.

Memberships & Associations:

Mr. Evander is a member of the Florida Bar (admitted in 2010), including bar sections for Health Law, Business Law and Real Property, Probate and Trust Law. Brian served on the Executive Board of the Law College Council and John Marshall Bar Association, he is also a member of the American Health Lawyers Association.
